This policy covers ikuyo.app and the ikuyo waitlist, as they are before the app launches. When the ikuyo app is released, we’ll update this policy to cover what the app does, and tell everyone on the waitlist before it applies to them.
Who we are
ikuyo is run by DONUKAPS LTD, a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 17437306), registered office 4 Moss Bank, Cambridge, CB4 1UR, United Kingdom. We are the “controller” of the personal data described here, which means we decide how it’s used and we’re responsible for it.
For anything about your data, write to help@ikuyo.app. A person reads every message.
What we collect, and why
We only collect what we need for the thing you asked us to do. Everything here comes from you, or from your browser when you use the site.
If you join the waitlist
- Your email address.
- When you confirmed it.
- The page you joined from (for example the home page or a mission page). This is noted on the confirmation email we send you, not on the waitlist itself, so we can see which pages work.
- The language of the page, so we can write to you in that language. We don’t keep it.
We use your email to send you a confirmation email, and then one email when ikuyo is ready. Nothing else: no newsletters, no marketing from other companies. You’re only added to the waitlist once you confirm (“double opt-in”). Our legal basis is your consent, which you give by confirming. You can withdraw it any time with the unsubscribe link in every email, or by writing to us. Withdrawing doesn’t affect anything we did before.
If you never confirm, you’re not added to the waitlist. The only trace is the record of the confirmation email in our email service’s sending logs, which is deleted automatically (see “How long we keep it”).
If you write to us (Help and contact)
- Your email address, the topic you picked, your message and the language of the page.
We use it only to answer you. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in replying to the people who contact us. Your message is sent to our team inbox by email. The website itself doesn’t store it.
Please don’t include health details unless you want to. If you choose to tell us something about your health, we’ll use it only to answer you, and we won’t share it.
If you ask to delete an ikuyo account on the web
- Your email address, and when you asked and confirmed.
We use it to confirm the request came from you and to carry it out. Our legal basis is our legal obligation to act on requests to delete personal data, and then our legitimate interest in keeping a short record that we did.
When anyone visits the site
- Security checks. Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. It only loads when you start using a form. It looks at technical signals from your browser and device (such as your IP address and browser details). We also hold your IP address and email address in memory for about 10 minutes to slow down floods of requests. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site safe and free of spam. If a check wrongly stops you, write to us and we’ll help.
- Basic visit statistics. We count visits and see which pages are read, which site sent you and roughly which country you’re in, using Cloudflare Web Analytics. It doesn’t use cookies or save anything on your device, doesn’t follow you across other sites and doesn’t build a profile of you. We only see totals, not individual people. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding which pages help people.
- Server logs. Like any website, our hosting records technical details of requests (such as the address requested, the time, your IP address, your browser type and an error code if something failed). If sending an email fails, the log can include the error our email service gave, which may contain your email address. We use logs only to keep the site running and fix problems. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website.
You don’t have to give us any personal data to read the site. To join the waitlist, write to us or ask for a deletion, we need your email address, or we can’t do what you asked.
We don’t make decisions about you by purely automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Cookies and your device
- We don’t use cookies to track you, and we don’t show ads. The site doesn’t set its own cookies. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie if it needs to check you’re not a bot.
- Your country on the Help now page. If you pick your country, your choice is saved in your own browser (in “local storage”), only so the page shows the right helplines next time. It’s only saved because you asked for it, it never leaves your device, and you can clear it in your browser settings.
Things we never do
- We never sell your data or share it for anyone else’s marketing.
- We don’t ask about your health on this website.
Who helps us
We use a few trusted services to run the site and our email. Cloudflare and Resend handle your data on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect it. Our team inbox is a Google Gmail account, which Google provides under its own terms and privacy policy rather than a contract with us, so Google is responsible for how it handles the messages it stores. Some of these companies may also use limited technical data (such as IP addresses) for their own security, abuse prevention and service improvement, under their own privacy policies.
| Service | What it does for us | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosts the website, runs our forms and server logs, Turnstile security checks, visit statistics, and forwards emails sent to our @ikuyo.app addresses | Global network, so data may be handled near you; company in the USA |
| Resend | Sends our emails (including our replies to you), keeps sending logs, and holds the waitlist | Emails sent from the EU (Ireland); company in the USA, where some data is stored |
| Google (Gmail) | Our team inbox, where messages to help@ikuyo.app arrive and are answered (under Google’s own terms) | Company in the USA; data may be stored in the USA and elsewhere |
Some of these companies are based outside the UK and the EU, so your data may be transferred there. When it is, we rely on the safeguards the law allows: the UK-US Data Bridge and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for companies certified under them, or otherwise the EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. You can ask us for a copy of these safeguards.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist: until we’ve sent the launch email, then we delete the list within 30 days. If you unsubscribe, we take you off the list and delete your contact record at once. If you write to us to ask, we do it within a few days.
- Email sending logs: our email service keeps a record of each email we send (who it went to, the subject and when) for a short time, then deletes it automatically. This also applies to confirmation emails for people who never confirmed.
- Messages to us: for as long as we need to help you, and no longer than 12 months after our last reply.
- Account deletion requests: a short record (your email and the dates) for 12 months, so we can show the request was carried out.
- Server logs: up to 7 days.
Children and teens
ikuyo is for people aged 13 and over. If you’re under 13, please don’t join the waitlist or send us your details. In some countries you need to be older to agree to this yourself (for example 16 in Germany). If that’s you, please ask a parent or guardian before you join. If we learn we’ve collected data from someone too young, we’ll delete it.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- see the data we hold about you, and get a copy;
- correct it if it’s wrong;
- delete it;
- stop or limit how we use it, or object to it;
- move it to another service, where that applies.
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Write to help@ikuyo.app. It’s free. We’ll reply within one month. If a request is complex, we may need up to two more months, and we’ll tell you within the first month if so. We may ask you to confirm it’s really you.
If you’re not happy with how we handle your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), or, if you live somewhere else, to the data protection authority where you live.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If the change matters to you, for example when the app launches, we’ll tell you by email before it applies.
